The upper northwest corner of Louisiana is home to the small, secluded town of Haughton, where Betty Matthews has been sewing racing silks from her home workroom for over twenty years.
A former employee of the Louisiana Racing Commission, Betty Matthews knew almost every thoroughbred owner. When she jumped into business for herself, the orders streamed in. You could say the social gate opened before the manufacturing starting gate existed.
Connectedness can propel success. The road is littered with excellent products that finished last because there was no one to buy them.
